Mostar, Pocitelj & Blagaj option A
Mostar, Ston & Kravica Waterfall option B
Mostar & Medjugorje option C (please send us an inquiry)
Herzegovina is a country of great natural wonders, rivers, rich waterfalls, and a mix of cultures and ethnicities, all living under the same sky. Take the tour with us and get acquainted with the history and the present of this stunning region.
Mostar is a city of Muslims and Christians living on opposite banks of River Neretva, connected by Old Mostar Bridge, but divided by river Neretva and strong ideologies deeply embedded in both ethnic groups.
Since Herzegovina area has many sights that can be visited, it is difficult to pack them all in a single day trip. That is why we decided on two different Options (A and B) for our guests to choose from, according to their preferences.
There are number of border crossings to enter and exit Bosnia when driving from Dubrovnik, so our guide always chooses the best option on the day of the trip, depending on the road and border traffic. Our first bigger stop is the town of Počitelj, but before Počitelj we will stop for photo stop/coffee break either in the town of Ston (Croatia) or Stolac (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
Počitelj is a town built on layers of medieval Bosnian and Ottoman Empire with elegant 15.ct. watchtower leaning over the whole fortified town reflecting in river Neretva below. Počitelj has everything that a typical Turkish neighborhood (Mahala) had: mosque, fountain, Clock tower, Watchtower, Governor’s house, resting house (han), Turkish Bath (hammam), and you can visit it all in a very short walk through its cobble stone paved streets.
After Počitelj we will head north to another little Ottoman town of Blagaj where blue Buna river springs out of the rock underneath 120 meter vertical cliff. The mysticism of the scenery has attracted man of prayer and meditation here for over 2000 years, and Dervish Sufi Order built a temple (Tekki) there in 16.ct which still stands over Buna River Spring (one of the most iconic photo-stops in all Bosnia and Herzegovina)
Our next stop is the town of Mostar where you will be presented with the overall political and historical events that led to the building of the Old Bridge as well as the Koski Bey Ottoman Mosque and Kujundiluk (main artisan street, still preserved in original 16. ct state, Tabija Tower and Tabhana (the tanners’ quarter).
During your free time in Mostar, you will have a chance to try Turkish style black coffee alongside Neretva River, or to have lunch of selected Bosnian (Herzegovinian) specialties (Čevapčići u somunu – minced meet in Pita bread with cream and onion) in family owned traditional restaurants.
Departing Mostar we will drive through inlands part of Herzegovina, passing villages Ljubinje and Ravno (possible coffee break) and back to Dubrovnik to your hotel.
The tour starts by picking you up in your hotel in Dubrovnik and driving for 1 hour alongside Croatian coast to the medieval town of Ston. In Ston, we would have an orientation city walk and a coffee/toilet break.
Departing Ston we will be driving along Pelješac peninsula vineyards crossing the new and modern 2,4km long Pelješac Bridge to the mainland and continuing to the Bosnian border
Shortly after crossing the border we arrive to Kravice Waterfalls area on Trebižat River.
You will descend down the paved path to the stunning waterfalls, also known as the Niagara of Herzegovina, an oasis in, otherwise, very dry and barren land. You can have a drink while soaking your feet in the clear waters of Trebižat, and in the summer you can have a swim in the lake in front of the Waterfalls (bring your swim suits and towels).
Our next stop is the town of Mostar, where you will be presented with the overall political and historical events that led to the building of the Old Bridge as well as the Koski Bey Ottoman Mosque and Kujundiluk (main artisan street, still preserved in original 16. ct state, Tabija Tower and Tabhana (the tanners’ quarter).
