Herzegovina is a country of great natural wonders, rivers rich waterfalls and a mix of cultures all living under the same sky. Take the tour with us and get acquainted with the lifestyle of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mostar is a city of Muslims and Christians living on opposite banks of River Neretva, connected by Old Mostar bridge but divided by river Neretva and strong ideologies deeply embedded in both nations.
We start our tour from Dubrovnik and after driving along the Adriatic coast, we cross the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina within a 1,5 hour drive (do not forget your passports) at Metkovic. In 10 min time we reach the city of Pocitelj, an old Dubrovnik Republic trade outpost on Neretva River, later a Turkish Muslim enclave (still well preserved).

After a stroll through the cobbled streets of Pocitelj and having climbed Pocitelj’s stone watch tower we continue to Mostar. You will be presented with the overall political and historical events that led to the building of the Old Bridge as well as the Koski Bey Turk Mosque and Kujundiluk (main artisan street, still preserved in original 15.ct state, Tabija Tower and Tabhana – tanner’s quarter).
During your free time You will have a chance to try Turkish style black coffee alongside Neretva River or to have lunch of selected Bosnian (Herzegovinan) specialties (Čevapčići u somunu – minced meet in Pita bread with cream and onion) in family owned traditional restaurants.
After free time we can stop (optional) at the source of River Buna (fastest river flow at its spring in Europe), and Dervish Tekija (house of medieval Muslim Dervishes’ prayer and contemplation. After Buna (16 ct. SUFI dervish temple) we continue towards Dubrovnik, stopping along the road at your preference.

Mostar wasn’t on our list, but so glad I went. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed my time and will use this tour guide again. He was the best.
