Korcula Island – Birthplace of Marco Polo, The Dark Corfu, these are just some of the names of this beautiful island. Korcula is famous for its maritime history, high quality limestone quarries and ship building. Today you can enjoy its special hand made macaroni from the village of Zrnovo and white wine POSIP – island’s pride and joy.

Our tour begins at 08:15 in the morning from Dubrovnik, stopping at the medieval city of Ston for coffee and a short tour. We continue through Peljesac peninsula all the way to the village of Orebic where we will board a boat line to take us to the town of Korcula.

The whole town of Ston is surrounded by 5,5 km long wall (second longest preserved wall in the world) that reaches from one sea to another creating a man made border and stand-off point for any intruders trying to invade the Peninsula of Peljesac. After walking around the town, we can visit the ancient salt factory (14.ct), where production still takes place under natural conditions on the same principles it has been running continuously for more than 7 centuries.

After docking just at the entrance of the Old City of Korcula, we will introduce you to its rich history. We’ll point out on the map its Venetian defensive architecture and 15. ct. street layout and then enter the city through the 18. ct Baroque South gate. We move to the center of the Korcula citadel to see the birth-house of Marco Polo and you will hear the story about this great explorer and his connections to Korcula.

On our way is also the beautiful Cathedral of San Marco – with its tall bell tower resembling a mast of the great stone ship of Korcula, when seen from far away.

After the tour, guests have some free time for lunch and than we catch the boat back to the mainland. We continue through the wine country of Peljesac stopping at one of the local wineries to try the famous Peljesac red Plavac Mali wine. We pass through tunnel of Dingac to the other side of Peljesac.

Here Dingac grape vines grow at 60 degree inclined hills with spectacular scenes of Islands Mljet and Lastovo and fishing villages of Trstenik and Zuljana.

Number of photo stops possible on the way towards Dubrovnik (about 1:40 hours drive from Dingac hills).
